Chef / Cook (m/w/d)
Which topics from vocational school do you find particularly exciting?
Above all, I enjoy it when theory and practice come together. When I learn something at work and can then apply it at school, e.g. in the kitchen learning field, it brings me particular joy. I also find the practical cooking classes at school exciting because you notice how differently companies operate and what experiences can be shared.
What was the most curious or funniest moment you have experienced at work so far?
I can't pinpoint a single specific curious or funny moment right now, but I've certainly had some. For me, what matters most is that we work well together as a team and stay in sync. Naturally, little situations arise that make us laugh together. That is precisely what makes a good working atmosphere for me.
What does a perfect workday look like for you?
For me, a perfect workday is one where the team works in harmony and together we ensure that our guests are completely satisfied. I especially love the days that fly by. That's when you realize you'd love to keep going even longer because the work is so rewarding. It's particularly inspiring when colleagues from different departments come together or when you run into them on the grounds. It reminds me once again how big our team is and how we all work together to offer our guests a great experience and truly achieve something.
What tip would you give to someone wanting to enter your professional field?
You can learn an incredible amount from experience, so you should be open to criticism from the start, while also bringing curiosity and passion. If you apply this passion consistently, you can achieve a great deal in this profession. Anyone who remains committed, open, and eager to learn will realize that everything you put into this job comes back to you.
Which tasks do you particularly enjoy doing, and which ones not so much?
I would be lying if I said there are tasks I don't like at all. Ultimately, I know that every task helps me grow and gives me the experience I need for my career. Even if some tasks seem rather monotonous, like peeling potatoes for hours, the thought that I am contributing to the final result keeps me motivated. If you approach the task with the right mindset, you can handle these duties well.
How do you handle shift work?
For me, it's important to have set routines, whether in sports or meal times, so my body adapts to changing working hours. So far, I manage shift work well because it is also exciting to get to know different areas. Furthermore, collecting many diverse experiences that advance me professionally is important to me.
What do you like to do most in your free time to relax?
In my free time, I regularly go to the gym and do strength training. That's the perfect balance for me to clear my mind. I also enjoy spending time with my loved ones or doing outdoor activities—as long as I stay active and recharge my energy.
How do you deal with stressful situations? Are there specific strategies that help you?
When things get stressful, I first try to take a quick breath and assess the situation before taking action. I then remind myself that I'm in an apprenticeship to learn. It's completely normal not to know everything. I'd rather ask questions and learn from them than make avoidable mistakes.
