Restaurant and Event Catering Specialist (m/f/d)
Which topics from vocational school do you find particularly exciting?
For example, I find it particularly exciting to learn which glasses belong to which drinks and which cutlery is used for which dishes. I am also very interested in the combination of drinks and food—for instance, how a specific wine pairs with a dish. Likewise, I find the different types of service fascinating.
What was the most curious or funniest moment you have experienced at work so far?
I can't think of a specific curious or funny moment right now, but I can definitely say one thing: I always have fun at work! That is the most important thing for me.
What does a perfect workday look like for you?
For me, a perfect workday starts at 7:00 AM on the early shift. First, I handle the breakfast service, and after that, I prepare everything for lunch. Then the lunch service starts, and afterwards, I hand everything over to the late shift. I prefer the early shift because I get home earlier.
What tip would you give to someone wanting to enter your professional field?
An important tip is definitely to always be friendly and smile a lot. In addition, you should be able to work well in a team, because communication with each other is crucial.
Which tasks do you particularly enjoy doing, and which ones not so much?
I particularly enjoy working at the bar and preparing drinks. I also really liked my time in the kitchen, especially preparing the salad buffet, as I was able to be creative there.
How do you handle shift work?
I handle shift work very well. There is always a sufficient break between shifts, which helps me recover.
What do you like to do most in your free time?
In my free time, I like to relax while watching a movie. In addition, I enjoy doing sports, especially jogging or riding a bike.
How do you deal with stressful situations? Are there specific strategies that help you?
I usually don't get stressed easily and stay fairly relaxed. If I ever find myself in a stressful situation, I take a deep breath in and out and usually take a moment to get something to drink. That moment of distraction helps me gather my thoughts and continue working afterward.
